Sounds like you have determined it is blowby causing the oil to be blown out the filler cap vent. Was there any obstruction from the gasket sealer? Was it a good quality IH gasket?As you probably know there are alot of rigs running around with more than desireable blow by,I have one to fix now, but even at that point it would have to be real serious to cause your conditions based on my experience.I still would verify that the oil is draining back from the valve train area evenly over the entire lenght of the head. I have worked on equipment for 22 years but don"t know it all either.Maybe someone else would like to add their opinion. The sad reality is if there is that much blowby....I think reringing is your only option.Which would probably include new sleeves. What a bummer...Wondering what all you did on the most recent overhaul(New or reconditioned sleeves?)A side note from my experience when breaking in an engine and seating rings, I use a light wieght oil for the first 50 hrs then dump it and I stay away from the Delo style oils recommended for diesels.I think the rings seat better and provide better compresion.
