Well I consider rebuilt as this- A tractor that is mechanicly rebuilt. This means new bearings, seals, gaskets, and everything replaced that is wore out. The tractor would be equivelant to its mechanical soundness at time of new when project is done. A restored tractor would be- One that has been rebuilt but also new tires, paint, decals and so on and would make the tractor moreless a new machine. This would although be different than restored to original. Being restored to original would be this- A tractor that has been rebuilt and restored as close as humanly possible to make tractor the same as it was when released from factory. This isn't easy to do becuase of varience in paint and replacement parts and decal exactness and so on. You wouldn't want any aftermarket parts so to speak. This would be like a 6 to 12 volt conversion, 3 point add on, after market fenders and so on. An original tractor would be one that has been unalterd, just used from factory. The less it has been used and the more it has been cared for the better. A show tractor could be anything that is being displayed in public. This would include most demonstrations as well. But just remeber that it is easy to stop on a project and continue on it as well. You can probably rebuild a tractor to better condition than released from factory. Like more horse power in the engine and the better paints we got today and so on. Its like going to a show and seeing a tractor that has been repainted and clear coated. A lot better paint than it had from factory. Anyways that is what makes up the fine line differences between original, rebuilt, restored, restored to original, and so on. Everybody has got there personal opinion on this so I bet you will see a lot of posts on this issue.

Last niht I dreamed about the day that I plowed the field of about 10 acres over on what Jimmy and Dandy called the Ledbetter field. I was driving the 1948 8N Ford tractor that Jimmy bought in 48 new This was prebably in about 1951 and maybe even befor the house was built. This would have made me to be about16 years old and I drove the tractor for nothing and would have paid to drive it if I had had any money which I didn't, but neit ... [Read Article]
