Mystery disapearing gas.

Twice in the 6 mos I have had this H I have run out of gas. Not a big deal really. Except I havent run the tractor enough to run out 10 gal of gas. 5 gal at a time. The 1st time I remember my gramps saying to make sure the gas was turned off of the old ford or all the gas would run out. I figured thats what I needed to do. Now I go back out the other day and the gas is gone again. I turned the gas off this time. I dont see any leak at the tank. Scratch scratch. Any ideas?
