I read your post about the little genuis plow prices. I own 4 of these plows, 2 of them are 2-14" and 2 aer 2-16" plows. I paid 40 for one(fair shape, good wheels, lever bent and the clutch is froze up. I bought it for the wheels). I paid 45$ for another. One cracked moldboard, otherwise good except for the tailwheel. The other 2 were given to me by a former friend. That is a long story but lets just say he decided some equipment was worth more once I tore the barn down to get to it... anyway, to recap, I have $85 in 4 of these plows. I have 2 that work, and 2 for parts. I looked at a couple the other day, and the guy wanted 175 for the pair, and the one didn't have wheels. If you are looking at one, look and make sure the rims or wheels are good. moldboards, points, etc. usually don't rust quite as bad, in my opinion. The first one I bought was all rusted but I plowed about 3 rounds with it and it shined right up. All of mine are in the exact same condition they were found in, pretty much. There isn't any paint on any of them I could find. If you are buying it to use, I recommend buying the manual for it(look for IH plow or similar on ebay, I gave $8 for mine). The manual tells how to hitch it properly, how to adjust it for about any condition, etc.

Mike

Today's Featured Article - Tractor Hydraulics - The Basics - by Curtis Von Fange. Hydraulics was one of the greatest inventions for helping man compound the work he can do. It’s amazing how a little floor jack can lift tons and tons of weight with just the flick of a handle. What’s even more amazing is that all the principals of hydraulic theory can be wrapped up in such a small package. This same package applies to any hydraulic system from the largest bulldozer to the oldest and smallest tractor. This short series will take a look at the basic layout of a simple hydraul ...
