I have a friend who owns a 1952 M, and he knows the serial number (I don't off the top of my head) when IH started putting disk brakes in M's as standard to go right into the Super M's. There weren't too many, and I really don't know how early they may have been offered as "optional," but look at the serial number or a cast date of some sort and see what year it is. You may be surprised to find it is a late M with standard disk brakes (then again, you may be surprised to find it not a late M at all). Thanks for posting for discussion.
