We have 2 red and white holstein bulls right now. The oldest one is about 12 and close to a ton. the other is about 4. We had a another bull that was not to be trusted and I am grateful for haveing the old guy around. He fought off the one bull when day i went to help a down cow. I will never trust a bull but when they protect you it makes you wonder what they are thinking. I kept the younger bull from beating up the older one when he was injured at one time. I geuss a little kindness pays off. The 4 yr old is a off spring of the old guy and is just as calm. I had a young jersey throw me over a feed bunk when he was 6 mo old. Lost his jewels 2 days later. Only weighted about 200 lbs at the time. Was still mean the day i sold him. He went across the scale that day at 1600. Got a herd jersey steer that is 10 and weighs close to 1750 and is about 5ft 6 in at the shoulder. I never trust cattle been around the dariy all my life.
