Ed,I had to jack the front end up on mine and tap on it with a oak block,this was after it had been soaked with PB-blaster for a couple of days. I made sure the nut was part way on and kept tapping the shaft and it finally popped loose. I think the weight of the front wheels pulling down on it may have helped out. Good luck ,Matt
