I have had a problem with the fuel flow on my SMTA. It sat for some time before I got it and though I have tried to clean the tank I think there is still rust and stuff in there. It will work well for a time then loose power for no apparent reason. When I remove the sediment bowl there is limited fuel flow. I use an air hose to blow up through the top bowl fitting and fuel flows again. Have taken the fitting out and again tried to rinse tank but still have the problem off and on. Often when I get fuel to flow from the tank and replace the sediment bowl it will not fill until the tractor starts. Additionally if the fuel leaks out of the carb when sitting and I have shut the fuel off, it is like an air lock, I have to take the line loose at the carb to get air out and sometimes at the sediment bowl also. I have an inline fuel filter and have considered removing the sediment bowl and top fitting all together and just using an elbow from the tank. Denny's sells a similar conversion kit for pullers.
