They shouln't be more expensive to fix. The thing you need to remember is that turbocharged engines in tractors are built to handle the turbo. For example, 806 and 1206 both have a 361 engine and they look identical on the outside, but there are major differences inside the 1206's turboed 361, like piston cooling jets that shoot cool oil at the bottom of the piston. Also, I would like to disagree with ed's post below. 706 was not problematic, it was one of the best tractors ever built by anyone. We have one with well over 20,000 hrs on it (it's had a few engine overhauls, but the rest of it is still in good original shape). The D-282 engine in the early models might have been a little small, but a late model with a German diesel is a desirable tractor. 66 series tractors are great if you do tons of heavy work, but for the jobs you mentioned in your first post, anything bigger than a 666 or 766 will be an absolute fuel hog. The 300 and 400 series engines in the 66 series will not last as long or get the same fuel economy as the 361 and 407, but they do have a little more torque.
