Adding Creature Comforts to 560

Posted by CEO WILLOW CREEK FARMS on July 08, 2003 at 08:18:18 from (192.249.47.11):

I know that some purists will not be pleased with what I am proposing but its better off to see if used then sitting in the shed. The neighboring farm just went under and I saw the opportunity to grab a very well maintained Farmall 560 with a wide front. Previously we had nothing on the farm under 140hp that was in regular use. I felt slightly guilty running a 6ft brush hog behind a 140 horse with front wheel assist. I think this is a good fit for mowing field lines, doing some cultivating and doing some light loader work around the farms. The problem is that it must be useable to my elderly father. Many moon ago we owned a 656, beutiful tractor, I cried the day we sold it. I have read about people throwing the shift linkage from the '56 line into the '06 models. Can this also be done to the '60 models? Furthermore can the TA be relocated ('06/'56 style) onto the side of the hood? If I can move the TA, then I could make it a side mount tractor with steps (basicly a 706 with 560 style). This would make it much easier to get on and off with 3pt attachments on it.

Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance.

George bought his Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00. There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken by Harold alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that the major was produced late 19 ... [Read Article]
