IMHO the K&N will NOT filter out all the dirt. But then neither will the oil bath air filter. A large enough pleated paper element is The Best filter, gets 99.9+% of all the dirt if installed and serviced properly. Under certain conditions oil bath as little as 90%, but never much over 96-97%. The biggest reason why engines last so much longer now is the improved filtering capability of the oil & air filters.
