Thanks for the informative reply. Went to the Wisconsin Historical Society page on paint decisions and have decided to follow their specs. Of course, the bottoms and coulters have been primered and don't have their original luster, so have decided to paint them and iron/silver color to make it comparable to the varnish and finished look you mentioned. One question. Towards the front of the hitch, there is an adjustable bar that sticks out. It is actually above where the hitch is and goes back to the plow frame (not talking about the trip). If this is considered part of the hitch, am going to paint it black, if not, I'll paint it IH red. The coulter yokes are actually black, although I have seen many paint them blue or red. When painting, I also consider the brace and bolts that mount them to the plow frame part of that part (ex. I will paint the bolts and brace that connect the coulter yoke to the frame black).
