I have followed this to some extent. A worn starter will also give you these symptoms. You could switch the batteries between the truck and tractor. then see if the problem follows the battery or the tractor. This would not eliminate wiring as a cause but would eliminate the battery. This also assumes that the truck and tractor batteries are close to the same capacity, obviously a battery sized for a lawn mower would not start a diesel truck wether it was good or not.
