In my area distillate or kerosene tractors were the norm until about 1950. After that most new tractors I saw were either gasoline or LP (very common) until early sixtys when diesel became fuel of choice. A unmodified distillate tractor will run OK on gasoline but factory gasoline will probaly have more power and run better. The distillate manifold puts more heat in intake mixture than gasoline needs and gasoline engine will have higher compression. Have seen distillate tractors modified for gasoline mainly by milling head down, swapping manifolds and rejetting carberator good chance this has been done to yours.
