The oil pump pumps oil thru a system of oil galleries to the crank main bearings and to other places depending on the engine (ie., to the rod bearings if the crank is drilled for pressure lube to the rods, to the cam bearings if the block is drilled appropriately) so as bearings wear and clearance opens up the oil flows more freely thru the bearings and pressure drops. Pump clearances open up also and there are known issues with the flatness of the plate at the bottom of the pump. If ambitious you might drop the pan and re-build your pump to see if an improvement can be realized.
