Bill, Be sure to get a parts book too. They show all the parts and usually the order that they go together. That can be a big help if you can't quite remember what went where. The transmission is very straight forward. Lots fewer parts than the motor. A parts book is also very useful in ordering the correct parts when faced with a younger partsman. Gears wear out in pairs, i.e. $$$. The good news is that there is a lot of gear to wear out. Noisy gearboxes are pretty common on these tractors, most of them are 50+ years old. If you can get the cover off, it is worth a look. If it looks reasonable (you'll know), and you are not using it in the winter, you could try a heavier grease.
