BB, First don't use the tractor till it is fixed! Farmers /Ranchers have been welding castiron for years. Short of tearing this tractor down and replaceing the Clutch Houseing then welding will be your best opition IMO. If you arn't confident in your abilitys then contact a local welder, He will have the skill and tools readily available to do the job. This may be a job, left to a pro-welder. I agree with you, drill a hole at the end of the crack. Then V-out a groove to weld in then as my ol welding tracher taught me, weld an inch then peen it till cold, then weld another inch and repeat the process till done. Use a high quality cast rod like NI-cast 55. Hope this helps, John A.
