I have just purchased an IH (mabe McCormick) drill. Its an 18 hole, with rubber tires, and two trip lifts to raise each section. There is a small metal sign inside the drill that says how to set it and it is dated 1947 ( i think). My dealer thinks its a Ih #10 but i think its earlier than that. The thing that is different is that on the drive system, there is a huge gear that has different diameters you can set the drive gear on. So, what model of drill do i have. Are there any tricks to getting the trip to work again. And i am wanting to plant soybeans, it says i need to flip some covers in the grain box and it shows putting some reducer or something by the seed meetering sys. Do i need to put this in or can i not have it in there and plant beans accurately or should i improvise something. Thanks Chuck
