The PTO shaft has to be kept nearly l;evel to not break as you have experienced. I have cut many hours with mine and no problems. You need 3 levers to make the mower function properly. 1, lift the hitch up so it levels the shaft and 2, adjust the leveling side-to-side, then use the 3rd lever for up & down. Let me know if you need more assistance.
