Farmall Axle Swap..............Can I do it?

Can I put a 1942 Farmall H axle on a 1951 Farmall H? The bearings in there sound nasty. I have a great 1942 laying around with perfect axles...smooth as a babies butt. Can I do it and have it work correctly? Thanks, Scott
