the 6 volt will be fine if you baby it. if the tractor will not start do not keep cranking because the 6 volt will not handle the power or the amps for very long. with a volt meter, you can keep a constent check on the charging on the battery cable at the solonoid. once the voltage goes lower than 11.5 volts. the 6 volt starter will struggle and may smoke the solonoid and or the starter. if your starter has been rebuilt it will last a long time. maybe every spring take the starter out and check the ring gear for round or damaged teeth. since the starter spins a little faster it may rough-up the teeth. the only down side of a 6 volt. good luck
