The tractor will start & run just fine on 12 volts. The problem is with the charging system, lights, & ignition. With no wiring harness, the charging & lights should not be a problelm. The ignition will work fine, just not as long with 12 volts applied to it. For a short operating interval (loading on a trailer, moving in a shop, etc.) your SC will run just fine. PS: The engine should have battery-coil ignition, not magneto ignition.
