I am still working on getting my neigbor"s 460 diesel started. It had not been started for several years. We have been pulling it without much luck. We replaced the filters and added some new fuel and octane booster. Did this based on some suggestions on this bb. The fuel screen was plugged up in the sediment bowl. We cleaned that up. We then had to clean out the primer bulb. The fuel was hanging up there. So, we now know we have good flow all of the way to the injector deal. If we remove the screw below where the fuel enters the injector deal, we have a good flow of fuel out of the screw hole. We then pulled it and it began to smoke. It did start and ran for all of about 15 or 20 seconds. When he stopped pulling, it died and that was it for this evening. After that, when we pull it, it wouldn"t even smoke. Might the injector system be plugged in somewhere? I pulled off an injector line and no fuel ran out. Not sure what to do next. I don"t know much about diesels. Seems like it might be stopped up still, possibly in the injector system. Does the injector system have a pump of some sort that runs off the engine or is timed off the engine? The way it is shaped, it seems that it may distribute the fuel that way-not sure. Any help or recommendations are appreciated.
