One thing I know for sure, gears are matched in stock boxes in pairs. the replacement of one gear with a different gear with different tooth count will not work. If the meshing gear is part of a cluster, it drives the selection of all mating gears. Less teeth may look like they work, but they do not mesh at the pitch circle and they will break off pronto. more teeth will not mesh at all. I hope this answers your question to a degree. Ide stick with a complete set Super, regular, or special suffex letter gears from the same tranny. Jim Nicholson, I've been there and not had problems.
