The alternator to use is the Hitachi model #14231. It is about an inch smaller in diameter then the Delco 10-SI. You are going to need every bit of space you can save as it will be a tight fit but I don't touch on anything. This Hitachi is not a one wire alternator but is very simple to wire in and charges at a low idle speed as well. It was used on 1978-1980 Nissan model 620 and 720 pickup trucks with a 2 liter engine. It is very reasonable in price at about $50.00 plus a core. I used this alternator for my H 12 volt conversion and by turning the existing generator belt upside down could use the existing generator drive belt. By turning the bracket upside down you also move the alternator up a good inch or more where you have lots of room to work with. You will just find it tight between the hood and valve cover. Saved all of the time and effort with dealing with split pulleys and such to exchange belts. I have several conversion "learnings" from my conversion I would be willing to share if desired. My emial is open if you want more information. Hope this helps with your conversion. Hal
