superpuller: You hit the nail right on the as to why I never got into tractor pulling. When modern day tractor pulling came to my hometown, I had a 2 year old 1066 and also had a 300, 560D and 656D. Since I had the only 1066 in our imediate area, IH dealer was right on my doorstep wanting me to enter. Since my 1066 was out on custom work, bringing down $800. per day, plus they wanted 2 days for tuneup and weight placment. I wasn't about to give up $2,000. revenue to satisfy his whims. Deere only had one 125 hp tractor in the area as well, and its owner told them to get lost as well. Then they wanted me to enter 560D. I listened to all their silly rules like no TA use, no Fast Hitch use, etc. I told them if one tractor was engineered with certain advantages so be it, must be a better tractor. Too many self righteous nuts in that sport for me.
