I was the one who said it made no difference on the bevel in the prior postings. I believe the solenoid is hanging internally. My original recommendation was to put on a new drive. If you can take the solenoid off of the starter just after the system "stays on" without removing the starter, you might find the problem. With the solenoid comming off, does the mechanism click and free up, or does the linkage remain stuck? If stuck, loosen the starter and try to free it that way. The gear on the flywheel is probably not going to make any difference. De grease all solenoid components with Electro Motive degreaser (or=), then spray with silicon spray in the solenoid plunger area, as well as the shaft of the starter motor where the drive slides, and use chassis grease on the pivot points of the lever. The solenoid should release! Keep in touch, pictures would be interesting. JimN
