I have an M with a one wire alt. Some times I have to rev it up to get it to start to charge maybe 1/3 total rpm. I asked the guy who converted the alt to a one wire and he said that some times when going threw an amp gage it doesn't get the 12 volts it needs to start charging with out reving it up.My tractor only has the switch it came with nothing extra for the alt. The batry has never discharged, some times it sets for 4 months at a time. good luck Dennis in MI
