When replacing and exhaust manifold the easiest way is to grind the exhaust manifold around the long bolts that hold it to the intake since the exhaust is junk already that way you have something to grab with a set of vice grips or 410 channel locks , and it makes it easier this way to do it then just heat around the out side on the intake and work the bolts out , while you have it apart now is the time to check the heat riser butter fly and to clean all the carbon and lead deposits out around the intake this helps with the carb iceing and faster warm up and cold stumbel. when you put the new manifold on do not tighten it down till you have it bolted up to the head then that is when you tighten the top four bolts this helps align then together .
