1944 Farmall A 2 speed drive shaft pr

One of the YT Forum members suggested that I repost this specifally to the Farmall page. My 1944 Farmall A has a two-speed drive (propeller) shaft. For some reason, it no longer shifts in low range. Does anyone have any info on this drive shaft? I need to find a shop or parts manual for it or a schematic in order to repair it. There are two views on our website on the Photo Page website www.wildernesstractorride.zoomshare.com and the photos will be under Farmall. I can also email you photos if you prefer. I have checked with many dealers and tractor enthusiasts in our area but have had no luck. The serial number makes it a 1944. It could be a prototype or experimental model and does not appear to be an add-on. The part I have goes on the input shaft of the transmission. Note the picture of the input shaft on my transmission is totally different then the input shaft on "normal" Farmall A The normal Farmall A uses a flexible coupling on the end of the drive shaft as it enters the transmission. My tractor has a very short drive shaft and the flexible coupling mounts about 16 inches forward of normal. I think the two-speed drive shaft that I have was by M&W Gear but I am not sure. M&W Gear was a principle supplier for International and made many of their transmission parts. There is a solid (no cables) linkage that shifts the drive shaft from high to low. The shift lever is between the transmission and the fender. High range is normal speed and low range reduces each gear by at least half. I have had the tractor for about 20 years. There are no marks what-so-ever on the unit.
