Doug: It's 15-40 diesel grade all the way for me. I've used it in everything from 1066 to my 4 cycle lawn mower. By the way the 4 cycle lawn mower is 31 years old and until two years ago it mowed 1/2 acre every year. The only thing original on the mower is the engine.

I've had exceptional service with this oil, 10,000 hours between rebuilds was the norm for diesels, 5,000 on gas tractors, of ten V8 GM in car or trucks nothing under 300,000 miles. I can't say anything but good about this oil. In the early days starting in the mid 60 I used 30 in summer and 20 in winter. Then about 1980 two of my friends in the forestry busines advised me thay were using 15-40 and starting at temps down to -25F most mornings, and miles from civilization. These guys were also putting 3,000 to 4,000 hours per year on 6 cylinder Cummins, Cat and Deere diesels.

I wouldn't even consider anything else. I doesn't matter what brand either, as long as it's top grade low ash diesel motor oil.

I was thirteen, and Kathy (my oldest sister) was seven. At this age, I believed tractor farming was the only way, hot stuff -- and given a chance I probably would have used the tractor, Dad's first, a 1936 Model "A" John Deere, to go bring in the cows! And I think Dad was ready for some automation too. And so it was that we acquired a good, used J. I. Case, wire tie hay baler. In addition to a person to drive th ... [Read Article]
