When you say "lawn", and you mean a good stand of true lawn grass that is maybe a couple of inches too tall, it will work. If you mean 2 foot tall weeds and grass, you better limit it to 60 inches. You can run in 1st gear or take a half swath. 1st gear is still too fast (lack of power) for tall grass and weeds. Finish mowers are not really made for bush hog type stuff. But if you just have a large lawn or a grassy lot that you like to keep neat, no problem. I have a 60 inch Woods on a somewhat anemic Super A that I use on my 1.5 acre "back lot". It works fine, but I don't let it get very tall.
