I decided to change heads on my M yesterday. We've had this M for at least 14yrs. We got it from the hammer row at the local yard. it was supposed to smoke and use oil. My stepdad brought it home and used it a little and it cleared up no smoke nor did it use oil. Well in the 14yrs it's did it's share of farmwork and it was pulled quite a few times competitively. So when I pulled the head off yesterday I saw 3 grooves in the #2 cyl that was about an inch wide and 1/16th in" deep. I pulled the piston out and the oil ring fell into about 6 pieces. This tractor has been a very sound tractor no noises and the only thing we've done was carb work and set the valves in 14yrs. I has 4" Firecraters and an all-fuel head. Last fall I put it on the dyno and it had 49hp. This spring I check the Compression and the rest had 110psi and that one had 100. Can anyone tell me how the tractor stayed together.
