Conversion kits don't require different starters because they simply don't need 'em! 6 volt starters live long and healthy lives on a diet of 12 volts. In fact when an engine is well-maintained an original 6 volt starter often see LESS wear and tear when operated on 12 volts. Some of my earliest conversions - now approaching 30 years of service - are still going strong on their original 6 volt starters
