Cultivators do two things: they dig soil/weeds between the rows, but they also must be able to throw soil "at the row" to bury the weeds in the portion of the row that they can't reach. For instance, between the individual plants within the row. That area must be "buried".

The gangs of rolling cultivators are built in such a way as to be "directional" and they need to be set so they throw dirt the correct direction.

You've got 'em set just about perfectly as far as angle of cut and the tilt, but they are running backwards; I'll bet it did plug up. :>)

Left should be on the right and visy versy. Either that, or turned around so they spin the other way.

Another way of putting it: The "shaved-away" portion of the tine tooth needs to be towards the row to get the proper soil movement towards that row. Yours are now mounted exactly backwards.

Loosen the shank and turn the gangs 180 degrees while still maintaining the angle and tilt that you have now and you'll just about have 'er.

Also, I notice your gangs are missing all the fingers or "rock guards" between the tine wheels which keep them from plugging. And also, I don't see any sheilds? Lastly, I can't see the back of your tractor, but a good cultivator will have duckfeet that plow out that tractor's tire tracks.

These cultivators really need speed to make 'em work right and if set up correctly can do a perfect cultivating job on a 2" crop at about 6 mph.

You're gonna love this thing when ya get 'er going. :>)
