Hey spence, send me an email to cooldude@ilovejesus.net and I'll send ya a nice PDF file for calculating hydraulic cylinder force and speed. You can use that to calculate what cylinders you need. Also, lets say your main boom is 3 feet and your cylinder is connected 1 foot from the pivot, u can use ratios to calculate the actual effective force at the end of the boom. It's never EXACT, but it will definitely tell you if you are underpowered. Your 9gpm, 2100 psi pump should be sufficient if you get the right cylinders... I calulated my dump cylinders on my loader to have an effect force of 1000lbs at the lip, and have rolled a car over with that same lip. Hydraulics rule!! my speed is also good as well, and I'm very happy with my results. Also if you got any questions, I can try to help you out.
