I bought a 48 MD. Its pump was varnished into oblivion. I was not a diesel mechanic, but I am a capable clean mechanic with an orderly nature. I took mine apart to the bones and cleaned it, oiled it and put it back together. It runs very well. No rocket science, just patience. I believe seal kits can be found for them. I do not have a source, others might. Be clean from the beginning, and do not force components. Books are mandatory for this process. JimN
