Well, I took RustyFarmall's advice and scraped all of the paint off of the carb and found that the part no. stamped in it is 405030R91, which is the carburetor used on 544, 2544, and 8000 forklifts with synchromesh transmissions. The carburetor the 2500A with a hydrostatic transmission is supposed to have is 535407R92. We have a 2500A with a synchromesh transmission that was supposed to be equipped with a Marvel-Schebler. The valve and seats, idle jets, main jets, main jet nozzles, and main air bleeds are all different between the two Zenith carbs even though all of the tractors use the C-200 engine and are rated at 54 horsepower. I was wondering: a)Do the different jets supply a different amount of fuel to the engine, or are they just differently shaped to fit in a different carb? b) Should I try changing the jets over to the ones that belong in the 535407R92 carb? (Seeing as it never seemed to run right with the other ones) c)Has anyone tried this before, and do the jets interchange? (the 405030R91 carb has a one piece nozzle and main jet while the 535407R92 carb has the nozzle and main jet as separate pieces.) Thanks.
