So: I'd go with the DT 407, probably the best engine IH ever built, and much better reputation than the 414. Like you, I think the 407 will be the easier change, however your going to run into things like fan position, fuel filters, air breather, etc. that may require some modification. Both will be a direct bolk up at flywheel, but the frame rails may be different spacing for the 414.
