8 foot Austin MFG. It has never cut worth anything since I got it (used). Sharpened several times, compared the RPM, gear box ratio to another that I have (single 5 ft) and when blade diameter is taken into account, both are 10,000 feet per minute tip speed (about same as found in eqmt catalogs). One cuts good, one poorly. The poor 8 foot has two rotating systems and now that I have checked and compared most things, I'm wondering that if it's earlier life, someone had it apart, swapped the gear boxes or something that would maybe cause the blades to rotate in opposite directions (yes the sharp edge hits the weeds first),but that is just flipping the blades over.)
As it stands now, the left rotates ccw & the right cw such that in the middle, it slings cuttings forward and on the outsides, it slings toward the rear. Anyone out there have a two head cutter and know directions of rotation or any other idea why this one cuts so much worse than the other? Should blade plane be level? The good one has a slight downward rake at the front, about 1 inch lower than the rear.
