Use E85 in 'old' vehicles? 1998(?) was about 1st year for E85 vehicles for sale, 2002(?) was a couple more models generally available- might be off a bit. If your talking 'old' as pre-1990 you will be faceing a bit of parts changing and lower performance on E85 and gas. Couple conversions in Mother Earth didn't seem the best. Best conversion from a hot rod mag was a late 70s big block Chevy engine that use alky fuel drag racer parts and 12/1 compression and stock cam with a wide advance ignition. Builder was around Minn/St Paul area and had drag raced fueler so was used to working with Ethanol/Methanol mixs, had parts and a tow vehicle rebuild project for winter. Vehicle was noted NOT flex vehicle for use with gas OR E85, was mostly straight E85. Vehicle dodged pollution inspection as special fuel user, Minnesota had E85 fuel cheap, and engine had plenty of power and decent economy for towing on E85. Can't remember what magazine- was about July 2005(?) issue setting in shop. RN
