I would think if the point rubbing block is exactly midpoint between the pivot point and the contacts , then it would be the same or nearly so. If the rubbing block in not at mid point but closer to the pivot point then a leveraging effect may come into play. In other words .003 play in the shaft to bushing will get you more than .003 variance at the contacts and affect you timing. IMO that is why people seem to love the Pertronix because they can run a somewhat worn dist. and all of a sudden the engine runs smoother and starts better.
