On my F-20, I put the Points Cover all the way down when I timed it. That is how I want it timed when it is running. To start the F-20, I rotate the cover up abour 20 degrees to "Retard the Spark" so that it is less likely to kick. When the F-20 starts, I rotate the Points Cover all the way down. That way the timing is where I want it. I believe this would also apply to a Regular. While you are working on the mag, drill a small hold on the backside and run a wire to the ondensor. Connedt this wire to a On/Off switch from a H or M (One-wire Mag version). This makes an easy way to kill the engine from the operator's seat.
