Hi--I recently bought an M that has not run for 3 years. Towed it home and started working on it. I put a new battery in and it turns over OK without any sparkplugs. But installing even one plug bogs it down. Took the starter off and went thru it with a growler and cleaned and undercut the commutator. Brushes are good. This did not help at all. I also by passed the switch, cleaned all connections, tried a 12 volt battery, directly jumped the starter with heavy cables and nothing helped. Then took the starter to s professional shop and they declared it good and strong. brought it home and tried it again and NO CHANGES. Almost as if there is some internal drag in the engine, but it spins nicely with no plugs. Thanks in advance for any ideas, as I am baffled in Illinois. mr pete
