There may be an issue with the coil, or distributor shaft bearings. When it is running poorly, or stops, feel the coil if it is as hot as a fresh buscuit, it is toast. Wiggle the distributor shaft (up and down, not in and out) if it has motion that can be felt with your hand, it is probably worn enough to give irratic timing. It may be able to set the points (.020") but as it turns, the cams opening the points change the gap and thus timing varies. I point these out to make sure you are on the right rrack with the fuel issue. They can disguise each other. JimN
