I was back out to the tractor again today and I started it on gas with the rad cap off.... and I got instant exhaust from the rad. So I figured that I might as well have at it and I took the head off. Looks like I've got my work cut out for me. The valve lash was about 1/8" and at least one of the rocker arms has in excess of 1/16" play on the rocker shaft. Further down the head is cracked between the valves on the #1 cylinder. Also it looks like it dropped a valve or sucked in some large crap as the valves, head, and pistons in #2+3 are somewhat beaten up. I think I'm going to do the whole tractor up as an every nut and bolt job. Does anybody know the latest cost for a rebuild on one of these engines? I'm guessing ~$7500 CDN. Many thanks, tractorsam
