We're fortunate to have a good agricultural fair in the neighborhood -- horse and ox pullin', sheepdogs, . . . I remember some years ago goin' by the cattle stables and comin' upon a stir outside the stall of one of the pullin' oxes. He'd managed to get his head and horns outside the top of the door on his stall, but the crowd collected when he had trouble pullin' his head back in. I watched for a minute and saw that everybody was trying to push the one horn up into the corner of the upper half of the door that would let him back in, and that it wasn't working. They all had good intentions, so I didn't get into giving them he11, but I did make my way through with some air of authority so that they'd get out of my way. I talked to him for a sec to calm him down a little. Then, instead of pushing up to steer his horn through the door, I pulled down on it so that when he resisted he did the pulling up and got back into the stall.
