Gents,
Put some SAE in 30 in my belly pump. I actuated the lever and vwalla'....the engine bogged down. So I'm guessing this means that the pump is at least working, somewhat, no pressure check yet.
Now for the bad news. When I actuated the lever, the engine bogged, then oil began dripping from the Belly pump. Not sure exactly where it was coming from. It was not spraying, but dripping.....in an almost steady stream. However, release the lever, the leak stops. And I did confirm that it is not leaking from the fittings, its definately leaking from up inside the pump, then running down. Now, I looked at the exploded view of the belly pump and it shows only one gasket. That gasket is between the resevoir and the pump portion of the unit.
So now for the question. Since the pump is leaking, does that mean I should give up and go pump shopping....or, is there still hope. If there is still hope, should I take it out and take it apart in search for the leak? Or is taking it apart, a "not so good" idea that would risk ruining the whole thing? Believe it or not, I am mechanically inclined, however, certain things I've learned not to mess with....like transmissions...(they are an art form).......Is this pump gonna be the same way?
