Try to keep between .060 - .100 for clearence for all moving parts. I have one tight place in my engine, at .045,,,,,,,,, I since recut the rod bolt and made it right. 4X6 are sweet engines, but JMHO,,, the rods could be a bit longer. If I was you,,,, throw on a low compression head for now,,,,,, let it break in, you will have better luck in the long run. Once you got about 10-15 hours on it, and the carb and IGN is close and the engine is running decent, then look for your higher compression heads,,, but man,,,,,,,,, you should not need much more than a bone stock 300-350 gasser head and still be way up in cyl pressure!!
Ive got about 8 hours on mine now. Its sounding great, and was thinking about turning up the wick to full power, but its already at 115+ at just over rated rpm!! Might just leave it alone till next year. ChadS
