Andy: The others have given you the date codes, they are 1/2" high digits with day and month by number and year the others have indicated by letter. Every major casting has one, digits cast in place, and what looks like a round head, blade type screw cast between each of day, month and year.

The control box steering support extends from is exactly same on all Super A, 100, 130 and 140. The Farmall A may be a bit different.

I can't understand why you think this looks like an AV except it doesn't have 19" front tires and 36" rear tires. Is it the diamond shaped axle? That was the standard axle on a Industrial. It was also optional on every Farmall from the first A in 1939 to the last 140 in 1979. There may be differences in spindle lengths, some hi-clears used 16" tires.

If you go to engine block part number Farmall A or AV should be 6342 DH, early Super A and AV up to serial number 310300 should be 251069 R1, late Super A or AV should be 354898 R1, 100 should be 354898 R2 or R3, 130 should be 366204 R1 and 140 should be 367825 R1 or R2. Those numbers are cast in place and partially behind the oil filter. Those were factory original part numbers for each model.

Like most features of our life, few things are all good or all bad, and most such judgments depend on our own perspective or viewpoint. In our particular hobby, we enjoy the nostalgic return to the days of our youth as we recreate many of the scenes that took place on the family farm that served as the stage for the first few acts of the play that is our live ...
